Hello! My name is Gladys Sanchez and I am 18 years old and I live in San Cristobal, Guatemala in a Home for Girls named Prince of Peace. I am in high school studying to be an accountant.
Right now I am visiting the United States with 12 of my sisters from P of P and we are traveling together visiting different states where churches have sponsored some of our girls.
This trip is a very good experience that I will never forget. At first, I was nervous because I have never traveled in an airplane but when I was in the airplane seeing the cities and the lakes below, it was a sight more beautiful than I ever could have imagined.
Our journey here has been unforgettable and the people very nice and sociable and the churches very hospitable. My friend Myra is very nice and I am sharing a room with her at night. Each girl on the trip who speaks a little English is partnered with a girl who doesn’t speak much English in the hope that everyone can learn more.
I give thanks to God for giving me this opportunity to take this trip. He is faithful and has guarded me from much danger to get me to this place in my life. He knows my feelings and the desires of my heart and has completed them in accordance with His will.
I know at Cooper City Church of God in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Pastor Bob and his wife Bonnie are very nice people. We were in 2 services there and I really liked the praise and worship.
Mike and Sherri Eckler from Richmond, KY have joined us here in Ft. Lauderdale to bring a 15 passenger van for us to use on this trip. Mike owns a car lot and found this van for us and many people are helping P of P pay for it. What a blessing!!!
In Cooper City, FL, Myra and I stayed in the home of Kim and Jim Rosario who treated us kindly and were very friendly. Their house was very large and pretty.
We had a large lunch in the church and then we traveled to another church in Lake Placid, FL for another service in the evening. We sang 2 songs there and had a wonderful meal together.
I am very happy because I never imagined a trip like this in my life. I give thanks to God and everyone who has helped to make this trip of a lifetime possible. I will always remember this time in my life and be very thankful.
